President of the Science and Technology Park in Kerman province at a meeting with the Chief Justice of the province of Kerman that was held at the Justice Department in Kerman, stated: Respect for intellectual property rights play an important role in the development of society.

Dr. Abbas Ghavam, the chairman of the Science and Technology Park in Kerman province referring to the need for industry patents, said: Kerman Science and Technology Park was successful in obtaining a license to the authority of the judiciary Inquiry in 2015 and then a permission to create the regional office of intellectual property with great efforts in 2016 that  in this office, the specialized evaluation of patents and technical knowledge will be done based on the technical search and examination of documentation by the related experts with the use of scientific expertise, advice and internal and external databases. Hence, the industries of the province and natural and legal persons can refer Province Science and Technology Park to patent their invention and benefit from its intellectual property.

He said: The intellectual property rights are the rights that allow the owner to exclusively use the interests and a particular form of activity or human thought.

Dr. Ghavam said the intellectual properties are divided into two major categories of industrial property and copyright.

He also in explaining the industrial property said that the group of intellectual property includes the patents, trademarks, industrial designs and geographical indications.

Dr. Ghavam stating that the judiciary is responsible for registering the industrial property in the country, said: Intellectual property is based on the ideas created by the human mind, including inventions, literary and artistic innovations, symbols, images and symbols used in business, as well as the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance (Ershad) is also responsible for the registration of literary and artistic works (Copyright).

President of the Kerman Science & Technology Park said: Soon a memorandum of understanding will be signed between the Justice and Science and Technology Park of Kerman province in which the intellectual property Committee is composed of the fixed and Plenipotentiary representatives of the parties in the Science and Technology Park and Justice that the planning, follow-up, monitoring, expertise and judgment in court cases and executive solutions and suggestions on all issues related to intellectual property and intangible assets within the jurisdiction of the Kerman province will be the responsibility of the committee.

Then Yadu'llah Movahed, Chief Justice stated: The legal system governing patents and intellectual property can have a significant share in the management of this issue and if our legal system cannot guarantee the rights of producers of these works, we will definitely suffer from the disorder and social, economic and commercial backwardness.

High Representative of the judiciary in the province, noting that in the past, addressing the intellectual property issues took place in the Tehran Justice, stated: If in the past, a case was considered with this issue in the provinces, its disqualification was issued and it was referred to the Tehran Justice and examined there.

Movahed said the creation of a joint committee with several lawyers and experts is necessary with regard to the fact that the intellectual property is a new issue in the province.

He noted that the first work of this committee is to understand the legal system on intellectual property issue and added this knowledge can be very useful and helpful.

Mohammad Bagher Islami, Deputy of Social affairs and crime prevention of Kerman Justice, pointed out that the intellectual property is one of the issues that have not been much addressed in the country and added the Kerman Justice will provide the necessary measures to determine at least two specific branches of its legal branches to handle the cases of intellectual property and intangible assets in Kerman province.

The judicial official said lack of awareness of the inventors and the public to the issue of intellectual property has created problems, therefore raising the awareness in this area through notification is necessary.

Islami said since the issue of intellectual property is one of the specialized issues, the judgment in this area can be very helpful because the arbitration is a specialized reference.
